No good deed, goes unpunished..... what would you do????

You get a call for Abd pain. You arrive on scene to find a female on the couch and three little children not far from her side. Pt isnt crying or anything but complains of belly pain. When asked if she has someone to call to watch the children (ages 7,6, and 4) she states she has no one. Pt states she has only lived in this state, 4 weeks and doesnt know anyone and the neighbor stated she cant keep the kids when asked by crew.... After the crew made 5 different calls (admin, police,800 number the police gave crew, the chief, and the hospital) no one wanted to help.... so what do you do?????

I agree with Tina load and go... Can't leave the little guys alone. Same as if you found them in a public place you'd pack em' all up right?

I would take them with me. The children are the responsibility of the patient, and the patient is your responsibility. If there is no one to look after the kids then there is no choice but to take them to the hospital with you, and let the hospital staff figure out what to do.

Either haul them in a safe way as jj advised or turn it over to your friendly law enforcement officer...If one was not there I may have called one to assist. DHS might make an entry but in some cases that is not all that bad really.
