Ghetto Medic (a book about my father's career as a paramedic) is now on Kindle

Hi EMS Community,

I wrote a book, Ghetto Medic, about my dad's experiences as an "ambulance man" in Baltimore from the 1960s to the 1990s. Bill was among the first of several thousand Americans who decided to become a paramedic when the "irresistible opportunity" arose.  His tales from the battlefield were my bedtime stories (when he wasn't cruising around in a broken down ambo with bloodstained curtains).  Ghetto Medic chronicles the history of the service in Baltimore and shows the pressures confronted by families of paramedics.  Dad and I spent years collaborating on this book with hopes that the public might gain a greater understanding of what the job entails. I'm sure all of you have stories of your own.  In Ghetto Medic you will find humor, compassion and a kindred spirit.  You may want to share it with your spouses and other loved ones when you feel as though they don't understand what you are dealing with on a daily basis.  Ghetto Medic is now available on Kindle

I wish you all strength and blessings as you continue to serve your communities.

Best,

Rachel
