My much belated New Year's resolution is to once again become an EMT. Back in my early twenties, I rode shotgun in Denver for 18 months before I had my first son. Family life took over and I decided to go work for my family. But, I'm getting a little older (heck, the last ambulance I was in looked like a hearse rather than these new warmachines with a
laptop mount and GPS system) and after spending 20 years as a stuffy insurance guy, I want to spend my few remaining pre-retirement years jacked into the excitement of helping people in emergencies.
So, I'm headed back to school and can't wait to get back in the wagon and start going on runs again. My first observation from the class I'm taking is that a whole lot has changed but the fundamentals are still basically the same. I can still remember how to approach a situation and how to keep myself safe but that I'm a little hesitant about all the new drugs people are taking and that I may encounter.
I plan to update everyone on my progress.
Anyway, I'm pumped and am super excited to have found EMS Connect.
