This started as a letter to my friends here at EMSconnect, but I think everyone could stand to read it . People, that still prejudge because of skin color, well you all need to stand up and pull your head out of your ass. It's not about color, it's about attitude. If you treat me well, I will treat you with the same same respect. If you wanna throw down, well than, it's on.
When I was in school, there were a few african americans who would get in the faces of caucasions and put there…

Ask yourself this. What type of person chooses to spend every day going out and helping complete strangers in there time of desperation.
Ask yourself, would you take a job were you spend long hours for little pay rushing to the aid of a stranger. Spend long hours training so you can go out and try to do some good.
Would you take a career that had very few highs and even greater lows. Would you go to work everyday knowing that the odds are never in your favor.
Would you spend the…

Lord hear me this day. I have for more years than I care to remember fought to protect and help total strangers in their darkest most trying moments.
I have been there to give breath when they had trouble breathing. I have made hearts beat after they have stopped.
I have placed band-aids and bandages over all kinds of boo-boos and wounds.
I have witnessed the gift of life being born into this world, and I have watched the light of a soul fade to black more times than I care to…

i just get lucky to watch this movie, my condolence for the all families, well done for the EMS system there
the film is a powerful, gut wrenching film I promise you will never forget in your lifetime. It makes you aware and sad.
The movie is pretty much a re-enactment of the Columbine shooting, with names changed, as well as some of the details. For example, the movie has one shooter rather than two. The first forty minutes of the movie deal directly with the shooting,…

Hi everyone...I hate to be a downer but it's come to my attention that we are losing a great number of EMT's/Medics from this site because someone is posting negative racial/ethnicity remarks and they are asking people to leave the site because of their religious beliefs.....personally, I think it is BS to do that to another 'family' member, but I would like to hear from others regarding this.

Did you know that exercising just 20-30 minutes a day will significantly reduce your chances of heart disease and obesity.
Did you know that stretching once a day will significantly reduce your chance of injury and or muscle strain. (better hold that stretch for 45 sec!)
Did you know that by only eating half of what is on your plate you will loose weight, decrease body fat and save money. (leftovers anyone)

If you are a candidate for hire at a paid Fire Service or as a police Officer there is no question that you will have to take and pass a fitness based test. If you are an EMT there is no question that you may have to take a test, but if you do not pass it thats ok, EMS needs bodies to run calls! Why is EMS any different from the rest of public safety? We are still required to lift, carry, pull, push etc. yet the public perception of EMS is fat and lazy. Fire is seen as fit and strong, so are…

Responders, as I am pressed for time the last few weeks and I do feel guilty for not providing you with more freebie exercises here is an easy one to do. Easy for the fact that it can be done anywhere, you and your partner can make a game out of it(ball throw-distractions-time). it is a great lower bady and balance exercise. Add in a deeper squat or a greater distance to th

Well as I wrote earlier I just passed my PHTLS. I learned some very intersting things there. I think my favorite by far had to be the F.A.S.T. Sternal IO. Has anyone actually used this yet other than in the military? What are your thoughts on it? What about the EZ-IO what do you think of it and have you used it yet?
