The following information was received from the Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS) by Paula Weiler as the result of an inquiry she made. It has been confirmed.

The time period for an expired EMT-B to re-enter the NJ system has been changed. We do not know when this change was made. The information has apparently not been disseminated to EMT Course Coordinators and is being spread very slowly via word-of-mouth. To quote, from the NJ DOHSS-OEMS (Nancy Kelly-Goodstein): "The two-year rule was imposed by the National Registry, so since we don't use their exam any longer, we can accept folks into a Core 13 that have a greater time lapse since their last EMT. There is no cut-off time for these former EMT-Bs to re-enter the system."
They will have to inform the Course Coordinator that they are a re-entry EMT and will have to take and pass the NJ Certification Exam.

ok I have a question for anyone who may know the answer. I have heard that NJ EMT-Bs that have an expired card can just take a core 13 and take the test to get there cert back regardless of how long ago the card expired...has anyone heard this and can confirm it for me...thanks

Sorry I am not on here often everyone. Unfortunately, I am currently working 2 jobs. One transport and one 911 Municipal. My hours are crazy so I try to get on here as often as I can. Hope you are all enjoying your summer. My kids aren't :( They do understand most of the time

Hello everyone. Again, not much time to get on here. Still working 2 jobs. One full time and one per diem. I am pulling on average 65 hours a week so between family and work, no time for computer.
As for our lovely Governor. He sucks, plain and simple. Does he forget the people that helped him when he was in that accident on the Turnpike? apparantley he has!!!!!!!! If it wasnt for the training fund, I would not have been able to afford to become an EMT.
